All Hail The Queen

It was a double dose of Queen Latifah as she was a guest on both The Ellen Show (Ellen Degeneres' Emmy-award winning talkshow) as well as The Tyra Banks Show (which is nominated for 2 Emmys this year) which was just aired on Channel 5.

See, this is one of the advantages of being an insomniac; you get to watch late-night TV (which, to be honest, is much better than most of the shows they air on primetime)

Anyway, Queen Latifah and her ever down-to-earth attitude really perked up the shows with her spontaneous responses. Here're 2 examples (1 from each show) where her response cracked me up almost immediately.

On The Ellen Show:

Ellen: You know, the Paparazzis have been really mean as of late with their accusations of Tyra being fat and all (referring to that infamous shot of her in that one-piece yellow swimsuit) because she was a model. With you however, I only hear words of you being sexy and beautiful. Now how do you respond to those accusations?

Queen Latifah: Yeah yeah, I've heard of those accusations... And I'm guilty as charged!!

On The Tyra Banks Show:

Tyra: You have always been known as someone who's voluptuous and curvacious. What do you say to yourself when you see other young women like Jennifer Hudson and America Ferrera who're just as curvacious and are comfortable with the way they look?

Queen Latifah: It's curva-tion nation, baby!!

Queen Latifah (who is one of my idols) is the embodiment of beauty; flaws and all. She embraces her flaws and weaknesses and turns it around into an object of beauty. She is, in Tyra's own words, the pioneer of curvacious women being comfortable with who they are and how they look. Time and time again, she has proven that with proper dressing, you can look hotter than any beauty queen.

That is why she's one of my idols. Not because I wanna look hotter than a beauty queen (though I do think that I'm hotter than the current Miss Singapore Universe), but because she is a motivator of self confidence and self acceptance.

We all have flaws, you and I. I for one have learned to embrace my biggest flaw (which is the fact that I'm blacker darker than most people of my race) and accept myself for who I am. And hey, who dares deny the fact that Maman is one hell of a sexy bitch!

Well... If you're still in doubt over my last statement, go ask the entire line of gorgeous men who're waiting (just waiting) for me right now! They will gladly testify on my beauty, both inner and on the surface; flaws and all.

Wahahahhahahahahaha!!!!!

P/S: Sorry guys... =P
